Messiah Paratroops

The first shots of Messiah Paratroops were fired in 1989. The launch was carried out by Aku Oksala (vocals), Niku Oksala (bass), Pekka Laasanen (drums), Janne Roima (guitar), and Mikko Vainikainen (guitar). In 1990, Sami Jämsen replaced Mikko on guitar, and at the beginning of the following year, the first official demo "Extreme Pain" was released. Prior to this, the Rheumatoid demo (1989) and the Children of the Corn demo (1990) had been recorded. As experience grew through gigs and playing, the demo "Lost Soul Domain" was recorded in 1991. Lost Soul Domain sold out quickly, receiving positive feedback worldwide.

Shortly after this, Pekka Laasanen left the band and was replaced by Ilari Jäntti (Barathrum) on drums. In 1992, with the new lineup, the "The Other Gods" demo was recorded. After a few years of playing live and developing new material, the "Jesus Christ Cyberseed" demo was recorded in 1994. This demo differed slightly in style from the earlier traditional death metal, with lyrics revolving around technology and Sci-fi themes. After this, the war machines went silent for twenty years...

In 2014, it was time to dig up the old war gear and start recording new versions of old songs with the following lineup: Sami Jämsen (guitar), Janne Roima (guitar), Tuomo Latvala (drums), Niku Oksala (bass), and Aku Oksala (vocals). New versions of the old songs were recorded: The Breeding, Cyberseed, Lost Soul Domain, and To Be Left High and Dry. However, these re-recorded versions were never released. The band played two gigs with this lineup, one of which was at Old Fart's Rock at Henry's Pub in Kuopio.

War demands its sacrifices, and the lineup changed again in 2017 when Sami, Janne, and Tuomo left the band. Replacements were found with Ville Vesterinen and Antti Sinikangas on guitars and Peachy on drums. Ville's songwriting skills immediately started to shine, and three new songs were created (Evil Lives Among Us, Madness Incarnate, and Murders of the Lake), with demo versions recorded. This lineup managed to play a few gigs before further changes occurred. Ville was replaced on the second guitar by Jani Vartiainen, and more new songs began to emerge with the debut album in mind. The band managed to enter the studio and record some of their new material, but the process started to stall...

It was time once again to open the tent flap and bring in new blood. Pete Airaksinen joined on guitar, and Vilho Kananen joined on drums. In addition to Niku, Jari Bäck was brought in to play the second bass. Jari has primarily handled the bass duties ever since. With this lineup, new songs were created, and the debut album recordings were completed at the end of 2023, after many years of work. On April 4th, 2025, the long-awaited debut album was finally released and received excellent reviews worldwide.
